Lake Entiat is the stretch of the Columbia River from Wells Dam near Pateros, WA all the way to Rocky Reach Dam in Wenatchee, comprising two cities: Orondo, WA 98843 on the east bank and Entiat, WA 98822 on the west. Because it is a reservoir, the water is wide, calm and boatable, and the level holds steady year-round. Where Lake Chelan draws down through winter, Lake Entiat does not — a meaningful difference if you keep a boat in the water, want a swim beach that looks the same in April as it does in August, or simply want a dock that never sits on dry ground.
The two shores have distinct personalities. Entiat, on Highway 97A, sits where the Entiat River meets the Columbia, with sandy public beaches at Entiat Park, a short commute to Wenatchee's hospital, airport and employers, and the Entiat Valley's hiking, hunting and backcountry skiing at its back door. Orondo, on Highway 97 across the river, catches the afternoon sun on a broad, gently sloped east bank: sandy coves, full-time moorage, the Sun Cove community with its marina, pool and golf, and orchard estates with river frontage on acreage — the kind of property that no longer exists on Lake Chelan at any price. Daroga State Park and Orondo River Park anchor the public shoreline, and Chelan's wineries, Mission Ridge and Wenatchee are all within thirty minutes of either shore.
Lake Entiat is the value play in the Greater Lake Chelan market. Over the last three years, waterfront homes here have closed at roughly 30 percent less per square foot than Lake Chelan frontage, and the past twelve months were the strongest of the three: 16 closed homes and $31 million in volume. Inventory is thin on both shores, so new listings matter more than search filters here.
